The Advanced NanoCrystals Lab (includes anaerobic techniques for soft or solid-state syntheses, high-temperature programmable furnaces, arc-melting device and high-magnetic field, variable-T apparatuses for magnetometry and transport properties) provides an intimate engagement of syntheses and characterisation for a wide range of compounds.
Particular emphasis is placed on strongly interacting systems exhibiting collective electronic/magnetic phenomena, pertinent to transition metal oxides, ternary chalcogenides, nanoporous mixed-valence systems and molecule-based materials.
We exploit selected solids for opportunities in modern technologies related to magneto-optic storage disks, switching devices, non-volatile memories etc.
